Blue, the cheerful blue puppy, had been playing with Dora, Boots, and Blaze when a sudden chorus of moans drifted through the fog. White, glowing shapes bobbed between the trees, and the whole park seemed to shiver as the wind rattled the metal chains of the swings. "Dora, I do not like this one bit, because those floating things look like ghosts, and they are coming closer every second!"
Dora stepped forward bravely, but even she felt her heart thumping when one of the ghostly figures raised its arms and let out a wobbly howl. Blue barked nervously and backed away, while Blaze revved his engine in short, frightened bursts. "Everybody run, because we need to find help right away before those ghosts catch up to us!"
The Nick Jr. friends ran for their lives, their footsteps and wheels clattering down the street as the ghostly shapes bounced after them. Blue kept looking over her shoulder, Boots clung close to Dora, and Blaze sped ahead, then circled back so no one would be left behind. "I can race fast, but I have never raced a bunch of ghosts before, and this is definitely the scariest night ride ever!"
At the end of the block, bright shapes and patterns glimmered from a nearby building where Geo Umizoomi was working on a puzzle board under a lamp. The warm golden light pouring from the windows felt safe compared to the cold blue moonlight outside. "Geo, please help us, because a bunch of ghosts are chasing us from the park and we do not know what to do!"
Geo Umizoomi, calm and clever, listened carefully as the others caught their breath and pointed back toward the park. He did not laugh or dismiss their fear, because their trembling voices and wide eyes showed how real the danger had felt to them. "Let us slow down, think carefully, and use our eyes and our brains, because sometimes scary things only seem spooky until we look at them up close."
Blue whimpered softly, and Boots hugged his tail, but Geo Umizoomi knelt beside them with a reassuring smile. He noticed that the ghosts had moved in a bouncy, uneven way, and that detail made him curious instead of afraid. "If they were real ghosts, they might float smoothly, but these shapes wobble like people walking under sheets, so I think we should investigate together."
With Geo Umizoomi leading the way, the group crept across the grass, careful and quiet. The ghostly figures turned toward them and gave another dramatic moan, but this time Geo Umizoomi noticed sneakers peeking out from under one fluttering sheet. "Everyone stay close, because I think I have solved the mystery, and these ghosts are not ghosts at all."
The friends stopped trembling long enough to look more carefully, and now they saw more clues: a hand holding up fabric, a flashlight glowing under a sheet, and muffled giggles mixing with the spooky sounds. Blaze blinked his headlights, and Dora gasped as the truth began to shine through the trick. "Wait a minute, those are shoes, and ghosts do not usually wear shoes when they float around a park at night!"
Geo Umizoomi stepped forward and gently pulled back one corner of a sheet, revealing a bunch of people who had dressed up to scare anyone passing by. Their flashlights had made their costumes glow, and their moaning voices had echoed through the fog to sound much scarier than they really were. "I knew it, because this was a costume trick all along, and these were just people pretending to be ghosts in the dark."
The people under the sheets looked sheepish and apologized for frightening everyone so badly. Dora placed a hand on her chest and let out a relieved laugh, while Blue barked happily now that the danger was gone. "You really scared us, but I am glad we found out the truth, and next time maybe you can say hello before pretending to haunt the whole park."
Boots began to laugh so hard that he nearly toppled over, and even Blaze gave a playful rev instead of a frightened one. The tension melted away, replaced by relief, gratitude, and a little bit of embarrassment over how fast they had run. "I guess the scariest part was not the ghosts at all, because it was just our imaginations racing faster than I do!"
Geo Umizoomi smiled at his friends as they stood together beneath the moonlit trees, feeling brave again. The Nick Jr. characters thanked him for helping them uncover the truth, and they all agreed that mysteries become much less scary when friends solve them together. "Whenever something spooky appears, remember to look closely, stay together, and use your thinking power, because the truth can be brighter than the fear."
