Rosa, a widow, lived with her only daughter Pinang. Rosa loved Pinang dearly and taught her all the household chores, but Pinang was a free spirit and often found excuses to avoid work.

One day, Rosa fell sick and was unable to get out of bed. As a result, Pinang had to take over the household chores. Rosa asked her to cook rice porridge.

Pinang started cooking the porridge. But soon, she got bored and went out to play, leaving the porridge on the stove.

When she returned, she found the porridge burnt and stuck to the pot. Rosa didn't complain, grateful that Pinang had tried to help.

Over the next few days, Pinang took care of the house. But one day, she couldn't find the ladle. Irritated, Rosa reproached her for her carelessness.

Pinang felt upset and ran out of the house, leaving her mother alone. She wandered off into the forest, seeking solitude.

In the forest, Pinang met a fairy who took pity on her. The fairy decided to teach her a lesson she would never forget.

The fairy turned her into a fruit-bearing tree, saying, 'You will remain a tree until someone who truly loves you finds you.'

Rosa was worried when Pinang did not return home. She set out looking for her, calling out her name.

She found the tree and recognized her daughter in the unique shape of the fruit it bore. Rosa wept and hugged the tree, apologizing for her harsh words.

Seeing Rosa's love, the fairy appeared and reversed her spell. Pinang was transformed back into a human, having learned the value of responsibility and hard work.

Mother and daughter returned home, their bond stronger than ever. And thus, the fruit that bore the shape of Pinang's face came to be known as 'Pinya', the Pineapple.
