Once upon a time in a small Chinese village, there lived a nice lady named Chang'e with her brave husband, Hou Yi. They were very happy and content with their life.

One day, Hou Yi was gifted a special potion that could grant him eternal life. However, he decided not to drink it, as he did not want to live forever without his beloved Chang'e.

Hou Yi gave the potion to Chang'e for safekeeping. Soon, a bad man learned about the potion and decided to steal it. He was a sly man, always looking for ways to benefit himself.

The bad man tried to take the potion from Chang'e. To protect it, Chang'e drank the potion. Suddenly, she started floating away from the earth, higher and higher, until she reached the moon!

On the moon, Chang'e felt alone and scared. Then, she met a friendly bunny who lived there. This bunny was fluffy and white, and it hopped around cheerfully. It was the first friend Chang'e made on the moon.

The bunny helped Chang'e adjust to life on the moon. They explored the moon together, and Chang'e wasn't lonely anymore. The bunny and Chang'e became the best of friends.

Back on earth, Hou Yi missed Chang'e terribly. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, he looked at the full moon and thought of his beloved wife.

People in the village started doing the same. They looked at the moon and thought of Chang'e and the bunny. They ate mooncakes and celebrated the festival, while hoping that Chang'e was happy on the moon.

Every year, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the villagers remember Chang'e and her sacrifice. They wish upon the moon, hoping that Chang'e and the bunny are safe and content.

And so, the story of Chang'e and the moon bunny became a part of the village's tradition. The villagers tell this story every year, passing it down from generation to generation.
