A cunning monkey lived in a fruit tree by the river. He loved the view from his tree and enjoyed the fresh fruits.

One day, a crocodile swam up to the tree. The monkey, being friendly, offered him some fruits. The crocodile enjoyed them and they became friends.

The crocodile told his wife about the monkey and his delicious fruits. The wife, however, had a wicked idea. She wanted the monkey's heart, believing it would cure her ailment.

She convinced the crocodile to betray the monkey. The crocodile was reluctant but agreed. The next day, he invited the monkey for a ride across the river.

The monkey hopped on the crocodile's back, excited for the ride. Halfway across, the crocodile revealed his true intentions.

The monkey was shocked and scared. But he was quick-thinking and came up with a plan. He pretended to be surprised and said he left his heart back on the tree.

The crocodile, eager to please his wife, quickly swam back to the tree. The monkey jumped off his back and climbed up to safety.

The monkey reprimanded the crocodile from the tree, highlighting his betrayal. The crocodile felt guilty and ashamed.

The monkey told the crocodile to leave and never return. The crocodile, filled with regret, swam away, having lost a friend due to his deceit.

The monkey was saddened by the betrayal but was glad to be safe. He learned a valuable lesson about trust and deceit.

From that day, the monkey was wary of the creatures of the river. He continued his life, wiser and more cautious.

The story of the clever monkey and the deceitful crocodile became a tale to remember, teaching the values of wit, trust, and the consequences of deceit.
