"Come on, Jake! It's time to get ready for daycare," his mom called to him with exasperated patience. He could already imagine the embarrassment that would follow when his friends found out his summer plans.

"This isn't fair!" Jake grumbled, reluctantly pulling on his shoes. His younger sister giggled, enjoying Jake's disapproval. He glared at her laughingly innocent face.

Once they arrived, Jake's sister excitedly scampered off to join her daycare friends. Jake, however, felt a sense of humiliation as he was guided to the toddler room.

The toddler room was filled with simple toys and nursery rhymes. Jake was out of place amidst the babbling children, a constant reminder of his unfortunate situation.

Jake's predicament only got worse as his potty-training accidents multiplied, drawing the attention of the daycare staff. They were as patient as they could be, but Jake felt mortified.

Deciding to put an end to the accidents, they chose to move Jake to the infant room. Jake pleaded his mother to let him stay home, but she remained stubborn.

In the infant room, Jake was surrounded by crawling babies and changing tables. The reality of his situation sinking in only made him feel more embarrassed and helpless.

Jake's sister came to visit him during lunch, her innocent giggles echoing as she saw him sitting amongst the infants. Jake had never felt more humiliated in his life.

Jake thought he'd hit rock bottom, but his mother's decision to put him back in diapers was a new low. He was expected to eat, sleep, and play like a baby.

Jake's mother and sister began treating him like a baby at home too. He would be bathed, fed, and put to sleep just like he was one of the infants at daycare.

All of Jake's friends stopped coming over to play, because they didn't want to play with a 'baby.' Not that Jake could blame them, he didn't want to play babyish games either.

As the summer wore on, Jake had no choice but to adjust to his new lifestyle. He became resigned to his fate, but he still longed for the freedom and dignity of being a child.

His mother continued to emphasize that if he couldn’t act his age, he wouldn’t be treated his age. Yet, no matter how many times he promised to behave, she remained unyielding.

Jake’s sister became his older sister in the eyes of everyone, even though she was two years younger. In this bizarre world, Jake was just a baby who needed constant care.

Days turned into weeks, then months. The end of the summer neared, but there were no signs of his old life returning. Jake’s hope of escaping his babyish plight dwindled.

For Jake, every day was a continuous routine of nap times, diaper changes, and baby food meals. He had lost all control over his own life, becoming a prisoner of his circumstances.

He had to watch his five-year-old sister go to school, learn to read, and make new friends, while he was stuck at home, living the life of an infant, devoid of any independence or control.

The summer finally ended, but to Jake's despair, his life remained the same. His now "older" sister was attending school daily, leaving him nothing but an infant's routine for company.

The highpoint of Jake's day was when his mom would take him out for a walk. The freedom to be outdoors, albeit limited, was his only escape from the house that felt like a prison.

The days started to blur into a repetitive cycle of feedings, diaper changes, and naps. Jake often found himself daydreaming about his school, friends, and the life he used to have.

Jake missed playing with his friends, going to school, and the freedom that came with being a seven-year-old. He yearned for his old life, for the respect and independence he once enjoyed.

Despite the monotony and humiliation, Jake remained steadfast. He constantly reminded himself that he was not a baby, and he hoped that his mother would soon realise her mistake.

While Jake's situation was unfortunate and traumatic, he was learning to stay resilient against adversity. He realized that humiliation was only as powerful as one allowed it to be.

Jake had experienced deep humiliation, but it was this experience that taught him dignity. And dignity is not about how others see you, but how you see yourself.

Jake was still a prisoner of circumstances, but his resilience never faltered. His situation was still grim, but Jake had learned the true value of dignity and self-respect.

So, even in his humiliating condition, Jake kept his chin up. His body might be treated like a baby, but his heart remained that of a brave young boy.

Perhaps one day, his mother would realize her error, and he may regain his childhood. But until then, Jake vowed to keep his dignity intact, always reminding himself of who he truly was.

And so, Jake remained trapped in the unexpected role of the 'Forever Baby.' Living proof that it's not the circumstances that define us, but how we choose to respond to them.
