Deep in the ocean, amongst the beautiful coral reefs, lived a special shark named Finley. Unlike other sharks, Finley had no interest in eating fish.

Instead, he desired to be friends with them. Finley would often be seen playing hide-and-seek in the coral or chasing his fish friends, their colours reflecting off his shiny skin.

Other sharks didn’t understand Finley. They would laugh and tease him, calling him ‘Fish Friend Finley’. But Finley didn’t mind, he was proud to be a friend to the fish.

One day, while playing an exciting game of tag, Finley and his friends noticed a group of strange men. They were shark hunters, out to capture sharks for their own purposes.

Fear gripped the coral reef. The fish hid behind the plants, and even the other sharks were scared. But Finley, brave as always, swam towards the danger.

With a determined look on his face, he thought hard about how he could protect his home and his friends. He knew he had to act quickly to help the other sharks and the coral reef.

Turning to his fish friends, he whispered a plan quickly. The fish, ready to help, dispersed immediately, each with a job to do according to Finley’s plan.

They began by swimming quickly around the hunters, making a whirlpool. The hunters, confused and disoriented, were unable to capture any of the sharks.

Next, some of the fish swam towards the hunters' boat, tangling their nets. The hunters tried to untangle them but the mess was too confusing.

Meanwhile, Finley darted towards the other sharks, urging them to follow him. They hesitated, scared and uncertain.

“Trust me,” Finley urged them. They finally gave in and followed Finley to safety, away from the hunters.

With the sharks safe, the fish returned to Finley, all a little bit out of breath but with triumphant smiles on their faces. The plan had been a success!

The hunters, now tangled in their own nets and confused by the whirlpool, decided to leave, their mission a failure. The reef was safe once again.

Looking around, Finley saw the other sharks emerging from their hideouts. They seemed to be looking at him differently. Respect replaced their earlier mockery.

Finley had shown them that being different wasn’t bad. He had used his unique outlook to save them all. They thanked Finley, apologizing for their earlier behavior.

Proud of what they had accomplished, Finley and his fish friends swam off to play another exciting game of tag, their laughter ringing throughout the coral reef.

From that day on, no one made fun of Finley. He was not just 'Fish Friend Finley' anymore. He was also 'Finley the Fearless', the shark who had saved the reef.
