    David was a young shepherd boy who lived in Bethlehem. He loved his job of tending to the family's sheep, taking them to pasture, and protecting them.

    David loved to sing to God while he played his harp. His songs were beautiful and full of devotion. He knew that God was always with him and this made him very happy and courageous.

    One day, David's father asked him to visit his brothers who were soldiers. They were fighting against the Philistines. David was excited and brought them bread and cheese.

    When David arrived at the battlefield, he saw something frightening. A giant named Goliath was challenging the army of Israel! Despite his fear, David felt a strange courage stirring in his heart.
