In a green forest in Nigeria lived a clever tortoise. He was known for his wits and tricks. One day, he had an idea to trick the birds.

The birds in the forest were known for their beautiful feathers. The tortoise admired their feathers and desired to have them for himself.

The tortoise went to the birds and said, 'There is a feast in the sky. But, I have no wings. Could you lend me some feathers to fly?'

The birds were generous and agreed. Each bird plucked a feather and gave it to the tortoise. Soon, the tortoise was covered in beautiful, vibrant feathers.

The tortoise flew with the birds to the sky. The feast was grand, with delicious food and melodious music. Everyone was enjoying, especially the tortoise.

When it was time to return, the tortoise refused. He wanted to stay in the sky and keep the feathers. The birds were shocked by his selfishness.

The birds were left with no choice but to return to the ground without their feathers. The tortoise, on the other hand, was happy with his new look.

However, the tortoise did not realize that he needed the birds' help to get down. He was stuck in the sky with no way to return.

The tortoise regretted his actions. He realized that his greed and trickery had led him into a predicament. He wished he could apologize to the birds.

The tortoise finally managed to call out to the birds for help. The birds, despite being wronged, decided to help him. They flew up and carried him down.

The tortoise apologized to the birds for his selfishness. The birds forgave him, but took back their feathers. The tortoise was left as he was before, but with a lesson learned.

From that day, the tortoise never tried to trick anyone for his gain. He understood the importance of honesty and respect for others' belongings.
