The Country Mouse was bustling around, preparing a simple yet hearty meal for his town cousin's visit. Beans, bacon, cheese and bread were all he had, but he offered them with love.

The Town Mouse arrived, looking around the country setting with thinly veiled disdain. He politely declined the simple fare, inviting his cousin to the town instead, promising a life of luxury and abundance.

They arrived in the town late at night. The Town Mouse led the way to his residence, a grand mansion in the heart of the city, bustling with activity even at this hour.

They found themselves in a grand dining-room, remnants of a lavish feast still spread out. The two mice nibbled on jellies and cakes, enjoying the rich food.

Suddenly, the peace was shattered by loud growls and barks. 'What's that?' the Country Mouse asked, startled. 'Oh, just the house dogs,' the Town Mouse replied nonchalantly.

Just as he spoke, two massive mastiffs burst into the room. The mice barely had time to scamper away, their feast forgotten in the face of danger.

The Country Mouse, once safely back in his humble abode, heaved a sigh of relief. He realized that peace and security mattered more to him than any grand feast.

'Leaving so soon?' the Town Mouse asked, surprised at his cousin's haste. The Country Mouse simply smiled, ready to return to his peaceful life.

'Better beans and bacon in peace than cakes and ale in fear.' With these words, the Country Mouse bid goodbye to his cousin, content with his simple life in the country.

As the Country Mouse settled back into his routine, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. The sounds of nature, the simple food, the safety of his home – this was his idea of happiness.

The Town Mouse, left alone in his grand mansion, pondered over his cousin's words. He realized that while he had luxury, he lacked the peace and contentment his cousin had.

This tale of the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse teaches us that peace and contentment cannot be traded for luxury. It's not about where we live, but how we live that truly matters.
