Once again, mom was going away for a few days. Theo, the 7-year-old, remembered the last time she had left. He had made life extremely difficult for his older brother, Aiden.

Aiden remembered too. Last time, Theo had climbed dangerously inside the car, run riot in the store, and even disappeared on their walk at the lake.

But this time, Aiden was prepared. Working at a childcare store had its benefits. He had access to all the items necessary to keep a naughty 7-year-old in check.

The first test came when Aiden had to drive Theo to the store. Theo started to climb around, but Aiden was ready.

He picked up Theo and strapped him tightly into the child seat. Theo protested, but Aiden was firm. Safety first, he told Theo.

At the store, Theo tried to run riot, but Aiden was one step ahead. He put Theo in the seat in the cart. No running around this time, said Aiden.

Theo grumbled but couldn't do much. Aiden was much bigger and stronger. He realized he would have to obey Aiden, at least for now.

Next was their walk at the lake. Theo tried to break free and explore, but Aiden had the reins on him. No disappearing acts this time, he said.

Theo was not happy but had to admit he felt safer with Aiden controlling things. He still tried to give Aiden a tough time but with less vigor.

In the evening, Aiden had to go to the shops. Theo wanted to run around, but Aiden carried him to the stroller and strapped him in.

Theo couldn't pick up extra items or cause a commotion. He was thoroughly fed up but was beginning to understand Aiden's reasons.

Dinner time was no different. Instead of running upstairs with his food, Theo was strapped snugly into the highchair. Aiden made sure he ate his dinner properly.

Theo was tired and fed up. He realized these restrictions were due to his behavior last time. He didn't like being controlled but he understood why Aiden was doing it.

That night, as Aiden tucked him into bed, Theo looked at his older brother and made a promise. He said he would try to be good, much to Aiden's delight.

Aiden smiled and hugged Theo. He thanked Theo for understanding and promised to make their time together as fun as possible. They both went to sleep, hoping for a better tomorrow.
