    Ivy and Amy moved to the bustling city and were on the hunt for a new school. They were in a rush, fearing they might not secure a school in time.

    Amy got accepted into Year 10 at Ann Girl School. Ivy, however, chose to decline the offer of Year 11 by the same school, hoping to find a school that would accept her into Year 12.

    No other school was willing to accept Ivy. As time started running out, Ivy had to swallow her pride and accept the Ann School's offer of Year 11.

    But the school's high school quota had run out. The remaining slots were for middle school Year 9 and below. Ivy would be junior to Amy.

    The school tried to persuade Ivy that relearning the basics was good. But Ivy couldn't ignore the fact that she would have to wear the childish middle school uniform while Amy wore the elegant high school one.

    To Ivy's shock, French was a requirement in middle school, a language neither she nor Amy knew. Ivy was held back by the language barrier every year.

    Amy moved up to the next grade every year. Ivy, however, was stuck, held back by her inability to grasp French. Ivy was stuck in middle school.

    Eventually, Amy graduated and went to university. Ivy was left behind, still trying to overcome the language barrier that had become her nemesis.

    Ivy regretted her decision to decline Ann School's original offer of Year 11. She felt like she had wasted her youth on a decision she made in haste.

    Despite her regrets, Ivy pushed on. She began taking extra French classes, determined to overcome the obstacle that had been holding her back for so long.

    Over time, Ivy started understanding French. It was a slow process, but she was finally making progress. Ivy was on her way to catching up.
