Thorn wrapped his tail around Rose, trying to comfort her. Leaf and Bramble were deep in discussion nearby. Spark was close enough to overhear their voices.
"We have to do it soon, Leaf," Bramble growled. "Tonight," Leaf agreed. His voice was dark with fury. Spark's fur spiked in alarm.
They were planning to kill her mother! Spark was terrified. Later in the day, Thorn padded over to her. "Rose wants you to come with her to bury Lightning," he said.
Spark nodded and got up, following Rose out of their camp. Rose led her to the lake next to their camp. She sat down, gazing out at the water.
"Your father and I would meet here when he was still in Cliff Pride," Rose murmured to Spark, her eyes filled with sorrow.
Dawn and Mist carried Lightning's body down into the hollow, setting him down near the lakeshore. Rose began to claw at the crumbling soil.
She was soon able to dig a hole large enough for Lightning. As she scraped earth over him, she stood with her head bowed, her heart heavy with grief.
Suddenly, Rose collapsed onto the ground. Spark rushed to her side, heart pounding. She was terrified. Her mother was in danger.
She knew she had to do something. But what could she do? She was only a cub, and the ones planning this were fully grown lions.
She decided to warn Rose and Thorn about the plan. She found them sitting together, their faces filled with sorrow. She told them everything she had heard.
Both Rose and Thorn looked shocked. They didn't want to believe it, but they knew Spark wouldn't lie. They had to act, and fast.
Rose decided to confront Leaf and Bramble. She knew it was dangerous, but she had no other choice. Thorn stayed with Spark, keeping her safe.
As Rose approached, Leaf and Bramble looked surprised. Their surprise turned into rage as Rose accused them of their heinous plan.
The confrontation was heated, and the tension was high. Rose stood her ground, her voice steady and strong. She wouldn't let them harm her or her cub.
Meanwhile, Spark was restless. She worried about her mother, and Thorn tried his best to reassure her. However, his own worry was visible in his eyes.
Suddenly, they heard a roar. Thorn's face turned pale. He told Spark to stay behind, and he rushed towards the sound, ready to protect Rose.
Thorn arrived just in time to see Leaf and Bramble attacking Rose. He roared and charged at them, trying to protect his mate.
The fight was fierce, but Thorn was able to hold his own. He managed to knock Bramble off his feet and turn his attention to Leaf.
Rose, despite her injuries, joined the fight. With their combined strength, they were able to drive Leaf and Bramble away.
Spark rushed to her mother's side. Rose was injured, but she was alive. Thorn had protected her, and their pride was safe, at least for now.
Rose thanked Spark for warning them. She was proud of her cub, for her courage and quick thinking. Spark felt relief wash over her.
Thorn and Rose knew they had to be more careful in the future. They had enemies, and they had to protect their cub and their pride.
Spark learned a valuable lesson that day. She learned about the dangers of the world, and the importance of family. She knew she had to grow strong to protect those she loved.
That night, as they all huddled together, Rose and Thorn made a promise. They would always protect their cub, no matter what. And Spark promised to always protect her family.
Despite the danger they faced, they knew they had each other. They were a family, a pride, and they would face any challenges together.
