The Crimson Portal

As I stood surrounded by the crimson world, the sight was both frightening and fascinating. The sky was hot and scarlet, the ground beneath my feet pulsed with warmth, there was no sign of any life, except for the strange, black figure floating eerily in the distance. I wiped sweat from my brow, the heat was intense.

A wave of panic washed over me as I turned around, but the portal through which I had arrived was closed. I was trapped here. I had no idea what this place was, where I was, or even how to get back.

But there was no time to dwell on fear. Noticing the dark figure again, I decided to follow it. Cautiously, I crept towards the figure, ducking behind corners and unseen.

The figure advanced towards a grand-looking building, surrounded by menacing guards. I watched as they lowered their weapons, allowing the figure to pass and enter.

I realized that entering this building without being noticed was my only choice. I scouted the perimeter for any possible entry points. My mind churned out a plan.

With my heart pounding in my chest, I slinked past the guards. I held my breath, praying they wouldn’t notice me. I sneaked into the building, hoping for the best.

Upon entering, my eyes adjusted to the dimly lit corridors. It was as though I had stepped into another world altogether. Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice call out my name.

I turned to find my father, shaking hands with an unfamiliar man. Dad sounded so calm, so content. I almost felt like running to him, but something held me back.

Dad introduced me to the stranger. As they continued their conversation, I began to feel a dread creeping up on me. It was as if my dad didn't realize the bizarre situation.

As they talked, I found an empty seat at a table across the room. Trying to keep calm, I walked over there, hoping to figure out what was going on.

I noticed some papers and a map on the table. The map was of this strange world. I started studying it, trying to understand more about this strange and unsettling place.

I noticed several marked locations on the map. One caught my attention; it was depicted as a swirling gate, similar to the portal that brought me here. I felt the first glimmer of hope.

Hearing footsteps, I quickly folded the map and placed it back on the table. Dad and the stranger approached, smiling. It was like they were completely unaware of how out of place this all was.

The stranger placed his arm around my shoulders, introducing himself as Mr. Rourke. The way he smiled at me, it made my skin crawl. Everything about him felt off.

Their conversation didn't last for very long. Soon, they excused themselves, leaving me alone at the table. I felt a sense of urgency coursing through my veins.

I picked up the map again, looking for the location of the portal. It was on the other side of the city. I would have to be careful and quick if I wanted to get there.

I cautiously left the building and slipped past the guards again. My heart pounded in my chest as I began my journey towards my only hope of getting home.

Despite the heat and the fear, I couldn't lose hope. I couldn't lose sight of returning home. The red world around me appeared even more ominous, but I had to keep going.

I trekked through the city, staying in the shadows whenever possible. The buildings towered high, casting long shadows where I could hide from the searching eyes of the guards.

By the time I reached the location, the sky had already darkened. Before me stood the other portal, just as mystifying and terrifying as I remembered it.

With a deep breath, I stepped into the portal. My vision blurred as the world around me spun. I could feel my stomach churning as I tumbled to the ground.

Opening my eyes, I was relieved to find myself back in the familiar streets of my own world. My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at the empty alleyway before me. The portal was gone.

I ran home, ignoring the strange looks I was receiving. Bursting into the house, I was instantly enveloped in a warm hug by my mom. She looked at me with worried eyes, asking where I had been.

I told my parents about everything, the portal, the crimson world, Mr. Rourke, everything. They looked at me in disbelief, but I could tell they believed me. They knew I wouldn't lie about something like this.

Dad seemed particularly disturbed. He said Mr. Rourke was an old friend who had vanished years ago. He couldn't comprehend his presence in that world or his role in keeping me there.

The events of the day left me drained. I went to bed, promising to think about it in the morning. As I closed my eyes, the images of the crimson world filled my mind. But this time, they didn't scare me as much.

I woke up the next day, feeling much better. I looked out of the window and saw the trees, the sky. Everything was normal. I let out a breath I didn't realize I had been holding.

The day started normally, with my usual routines. But there was a sense of adventure in the air. My journey to the crimson world was something I would never forget.

The days went by, and the memory of the crimson world became less vivid. But I never forgot Mr. Rourke and his chilling smile. I wondered if I would ever see him again.

As I walked to school one day, I glanced at the alleyway where the portal once was. Everything was normal, and yet, I could not shake the feeling of something more. Something was waiting. But for now, I had my own world to live in.
