In the grand palace of the Far East, the King sat all day long on soft cushions, listening to stories. He never tired of them, no matter how long they were.

The king always found fault with the stories, saying, 'Your story is too short.' No tale was ever enough to satisfy his longing for an endless story.

The king, in his desire for an endless tale, offered his fairest daughter's hand in marriage to anyone who could accomplish this feat. The challenge spread far and wide.

Many young men desired the princess, but the fear of losing their heads if they failed kept them from trying. Only a few dared to take on the challenge.

One day, a stranger from the South entered the palace. He was confident and ready to take the king's challenge. The court buzzed with anticipation as he began his tale.

The stranger weaved a tale of a mythical land where the sun never set, the rivers never stopped flowing, and the trees grew tall touching the skies.

The stranger's tale continued. With each passing day, the story grew more intricate, captivating the entire court. The king listened with rapt attention, his desire for an endless tale slowly being fulfilled.

As the days passed into weeks, and weeks into months, the stranger's tale showed no sign of ending. The king was finally hearing an endless tale.

Finally, after many months, the stranger concluded his tale. The court was silent for a moment, and then erupted into applause. The stranger had successfully told an endless tale.

The king was overjoyed. He had finally heard an endless tale. He declared the stranger the winner and granted him his daughter's hand in marriage, as promised.
