Once upon a time, nestled in the heart of a resplendent kingdom, there stood a unique apple tree. Its apples were not ordinary; they were golden. The king, a man of discerning taste, was immediately drawn to this extraordinary tree during a casual stroll in his garden.

The golden apples were not just a feast for the eyes, but they were rumored to bestow eternal youth on those who ate them. Their rarity added to their allure, making them the most prized possession in the kingdom. The king was so obsessed with these apples that he placed the tree under the care of a dedicated gardener.

Every day, the gardener would rise with the sun, carefully watering, pruning, and nurturing the tree. He would then meticulously count the golden apples, ensuring that not a single one was missing. This routine was crucial to the king's peace of mind, and he took it very seriously.

However, one day, the gardener discovered a missing apple. He confronted the king, fear etched on his face. The king was taken aback. The trust he had placed in his gardener was wavering.

The king's initial shock quickly turned to anger. He ordered his two eldest sons to guard the tree at night. Surely, with their watchful eyes, no thief would dare to steal another golden apple.

Despite their efforts, the eldest and second sons failed to catch the thief. Each morning, another golden apple was missing. The king's frustration grew. He couldn't comprehend how the thief was evading his sons' vigilance.

One night, the youngest son decided to take matters into his hands. He carefully watched the tree. Suddenly, he saw a golden bird fluttering around the tree, picking an apple with its beak.

The youngest son was faced with a dilemma. Should he shoot the bird, or let it go? The bird, with its golden feathers, was as rare and mesmerizing as the apples it stole.

When the king heard about the golden bird, his desire shifted. He no longer just wanted the golden apples; he wanted the entire bird. He demanded that his sons capture the bird, setting a challenge that seemed impossible.

The tension in the castle was palpable. The sons tried different strategies to capture the bird, but it always managed to evade their traps. The king's obsession with the bird started to test the limits of his power.

In the end, it was the youngest son's kindness that prevailed. He offered the bird one of the golden apples. To everyone's surprise, the bird didn't fly away. Instead, it gently landed on the young prince's hand.

The king realized that his obsession had blinded him. He learned that kindness and understanding were more powerful than force. With his lesson learned, the king, his sons, and the golden bird lived in harmony, protecting the golden apple tree together.
