In a small village located at the foot of Taihang and Wangwu mountains, lived a determined old man named Yugong. The mountains, sprawling and majestic, stood in his path, making it extremely inconvenient for him and his family to travel.

One day, Yugong gathered his family and proposed, 'Let's all work together to level these mountains and build a road that leads straight to Yuzhou. What do you think?' Everyone agreed enthusiastically, except for his wife who expressed doubts.

His wife questioned, 'You don't even have the strength to dig a small hill, how can you possibly level the Taihang and Wangwu mountains? And where will you dump the dug-up earth and stones?' The family responded fervently, 'We'll throw them into the Bohai Sea.'

So, Yugong, along with his children and grandchildren, began to dig the mountains and transport the earth and stones to the Bohai Sea. Yugong's neighbors, including a widow with an eight-year-old son, also joined in. Despite the seasons changing, they could only make one trip to the Bohai Sea each year.

An old man, who lived by the Yellow River, seeing their toil, ridiculed Yugong, 'Aren't you foolish? You're already old, even if you exert all your strength, you won't be able to remove even a corner of the mountains.'

Yugong sighed and replied, 'You're short-sighted. You're worse than the widow's young son! Even if I die, there will be my sons, grandsons, great grandsons... They'll continue this work. These mountains won't grow, one day, we'll flatten them.' The old man was left speechless.

The deity guarding the mountains was moved by Yugong's unwavering spirit and reported the matter to the Emperor of Heaven.

The Emperor of Heaven, impressed by Yugong's spirit, decided to send two powerful deities to remove the mountains.

He summoned the two powerful deities and commanded, 'Go and move the Taihang and Wangwu mountains to the areas of Shouyang and Yuzhou.'

The deities, using their divine power, lifted the mountains and carried them away. The path to Yuzhou was now clear, just as Yugong had envisioned.

Yugong's determination and perseverance had moved not just mountains, but also the gods. His actions and unwavering spirit served as an inspiration for all.

Yugong's story is remembered as a testament to the fact that one can overcome any obstacle if they have the will and determination. His story continues to inspire generations, proving that 'Where there's a will, there's a way.'
