Marinette Dupain-Cheng stood in awe, her eyes tracing the intricate carvings on the sarcophagus. The air was thick with the smell of aged parchment and stone.

"This must be the treasure we've been searching for," she whispered, a mix of excitement and apprehension in her voice.

Suddenly, the heavy lid slid open, revealing a mummy wrapped in tattered linen. Its eyes glowed with an unnatural light as it slowly sat up.

Marinette's heart pounded in her chest as she stumbled backward. "What have I done?" she gasped, realizing she had disturbed something ancient and powerful.

Marinette fought to regain her composure, reaching for a nearby artifact as a makeshift weapon. The mummy advanced, its gaze fixed on her.

"Stay back!" she shouted, her voice echoing off the stone walls. But the mummy moved with relentless determination, unfazed by her attempts to fend it off.

Marinette found herself ensnared in the mummy's grasp, its linen bands coiling around her like serpents.

Her vision blurred, and she struggled to breathe as the mummy's ancient power began to take hold. "No, I won't let it end like this," she vowed, her voice barely a whisper.

As Marinette's struggles weakened, the mummy's linen wraps tightened, binding her in an unbreakable embrace. Her skin tingled as the curse seeped into her, transforming her slowly.

"This can't be happening," she thought desperately, feeling the last of her strength slipping away.

With a final, mournful wail, the mummy lifted Marinette and placed her inside the sarcophagus. The lid slid shut, sealing her within the tomb's cold embrace.

The room returned to silence, the candles flickering as if in mourning. Trapped in the mummy's tomb forever, Marinette's story became one with the legends of the past.
