In the tranquil village lived Laksmi, a respected midwife. She was known for her stern demeanor and magical healing abilities.

One day, Laksmi was called to assist a difficult birth. Despite her efforts, the mother and child didn't survive. The village was engulfed in sorrow.

Laksmi, filled with guilt and sorrow, visited the graves every night. She prayed for their souls and sought forgiveness for her failure.

During one of these visits, Laksmi felt a strange force pulling her deeper into the jungle. She followed it, unaware of the transformation that awaited her.

There, a spirit appeared before Laksmi, who was awestruck. The spirit offered her a chance to atone, turning her into a Kuyang, a spirit creature.

Laksmi accepted and was transformed into a Kuyang, her body reduced to a head and entrails. She was granted the power to heal but at a grim cost.

Laksmi returned to her village, now as the Kuyang. She hoped to use her new powers for good, but her appearance frightened the villagers.

The villagers started experiencing strange occurrences. Illnesses healed overnight, but the livestock began to thin. They suspected the Kuyang.

The Village Chief, an old wise man, noticed the happenings. He connected the dots, realizing Laksmi's sacrifice and her transformation into the Kuyang.

The Chief approached Laksmi, asking her to leave the village for their peace. Laksmi agreed, vowing to protect them from afar.

Laksmi retreated into the jungle, her heart heavy with sadness yet determined. She continued to watch over the village, as the legend of the Kuyang was born.

Years passed, and the villagers began to respect the Kuyang, leaving offerings at the edge of the jungle and telling tales of the protective spirit.
