Homicide Detectives Kevin Ryan and Javier Esposito were back in the office after their twelve-week paternity leave. Their usual babysitter, Alexis Castle, had canceled at the last minute forcing them to bring their twelve-week-old daughter, Deanna, to work.

At first, the office was abuzz with curiosity and excitement at the sight of the baby. The detectives' colleagues were thrilled to meet Deanna and showered her with attention.

Richard Castle, a bestselling author and consultant for the NYPD, was intrigued. "This is going to be interesting," he commented, grinning.

Detective Kate Beckett, who was partnered with Castle, also couldn't resist Deanna's charm. She held the baby gently, making faces to make her laugh.

The day moved on, and the detectives got back to their work, with Deanna in a baby carrier nearby. They took turns feeding her and changing her diapers.

During a particularly tense discussion about a case, Deanna started to cry. Ryan picked her up and started to soothe her, still contributing to the conversation.

Esposito, meanwhile, was trying to decipher a cryptic message left by a suspect. He managed to do so while bouncing Deanna on his knee, much to everyone's amusement.

At lunchtime, the entire team gathered around to watch Castle feed Deanna her bottle. He made funny faces and noises, which made her giggle.

Beckett, who'd been watching the entire scene unfold, couldn't help but feel a pang of maternal longing. She gave Deanna a gentle kiss on the forehead.

As the day progressed, the detectives realized that having Deanna around was not only manageable but also brought a sense of camaraderie and joy to the office.

By the end of the day, the entire team was smitten with Deanna. Even the usually stern Captain Victoria Gates couldn't resist her charm.

"She's quite the detective," Gates commented, watching as Deanna reached for her father's badge. The office erupted in laughter.

As Ryan and Esposito packed up to leave, they thanked their colleagues for their understanding and help. Deanna had been a hit, and the day had been surprisingly smooth.

"Maybe we should bring her more often," Ryan joked. Esposito shook his head, chuckling. "One day is enough for now," he responded, grinning.

As they left, the office felt strangely quiet. The traces of baby laughter and babble still hung in the air, bringing a smile to everyone's faces.

Castle, who was left holding a teddy bear that Deanna had dropped, looked at Beckett. "Maybe we should think about having one of our own," he said, grinning.

Beckett looked at him, surprised, then smiled. "Maybe," she said, leaving Castle with a hopeful grin on his face. A new chapter was about to begin.
