Welcome to another session with us - Nick Mullen, Adam Friedland, and Stavros Halkias. Today, we are going to delve into the fascinating world of cartoons.

Cartoons, man. They're not just for kids. They're an art form, a medium that's as diverse and rich as any other. We have adult ones, nostalgic ones, even those that make you think.

Remember the first time we watched The Simpsons? It was a game changer. The humor, the social commentary - it was unlike anything we'd seen before.

And then there's Family Guy. It's much edgier, sure, but it's got it's own unique charm. You can't help but love the ridiculous situations that the Griffin family gets into.

Don't get me started on South Park, it's a whole different ballgame. The controversial bits, the whacky characters, the satire - it's a beast of its own.

Excuse me, aren't we forgetting the classics? Looney Tunes, The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo. I believe they set the groundwork for all these modern shows.

You're right, Adam. We owe a lot to these classics. They paved the way for animation to be taken seriously. Not to mention, they're still ridiculously funny.

Let's not overlook Japanese anime! They've provided us with some unique storytelling techniques, complex character arcs, and emotional depth unmatched in many western cartoons.

Oh yes! Shows like Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball Z are monumental. They've shifted our perspective on what a cartoon can be.

And speaking of Anime, Studio Ghibli has brought us some of the most enchanting movies ever. From Spirited Away to My Neighbor Totoro, they've opened up a whole new world.

But we need to talk about Pixar. Their movies are universally loved. Toy Story, Wall-E, Up, Inside Out - they blend comedy, emotion, and creativity in an exceptional way.

That's true, Pixar does have an exceptional way of storytelling. But can we talk about SpongeBob SquarePants? It's a masterclass in humor and absurdity!

I agree, SpongeBob is a cultural icon. But I'd also like to give a shoutout to Adventure Time for its heavy themes wrapped in a childlike aesthetic.

I'd also like to mention Avatar: The Last Airbender. It broke boundaries between kid's shows and adult's shows, bringing forth a compelling narrative and complex characters.

Good point, Nick. But we've also got to mention Bojack Horseman. It has explored mental health with a realism that many live-action shows haven't managed to.

Yes, I agree. It's surprising how these "kid's shows" are often more mature and insightful than many adult shows.

Absolutely, they touch upon important themes, and often teach us more about life than we expect. That's the beauty of cartoons.

Anyway, we're nearing the end of this podcast. Let's each mention a cartoon we wish more people knew about.

I'll start. I think Over the Garden Wall is an underrated gem. It's a wonderful blend of fairy tale whimsy and dark, autumnal atmosphere.

I'll go next. Gravity Falls is hilarious and charming, but it also has some of the best mystery storytelling I've seen in a cartoon.

For me, it's got to be Steven Universe. It's a beautiful example of inclusivity and diversity, with great representation and positive messages for kids.

Well, there you have it folks. A bunch of cartoon nerds passionately discussing their favorite medium. We hope you found some new shows to check out.

We'd also love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Drop us a line and share your favorite cartoons and why you love them.

Cartoons are more than just entertainment. They're a source of inspiration, a tool for learning, and a form of expression. Let's continue to appreciate this incredible medium.

True words, mate. It's been fun reminiscing about our favorite cartoons. Be sure to tune in next time when we'll discuss another interesting topic.
