The moment he opened his eyes, Satoru knew something was off. It was a normal classroom – filled with his classmates' chatter as their teacher droned on. But it was familiar, terrifyingly so. He creased his eyebrows as he realized; this wasn't just any normal day. It was a ghost of his past.

His glance landed on Suguru, whose youthful face was a stark reminder of their friendship and the bond they once had. Satoru's heart seared at the sight. The unkempt hair, the vibrant eyes. He was so alive… a sharp contrast to the empty husk Satoru had turned him into.

With a sudden onset of dawned realization, Satoru felt despair creeping within his heart. He was omegaverse-born, an omega despite his alpha-like tendencies. And Suguru, that bastard, was alpha to the core. These roles had torn their bond apart in the past.

Struggling with his bottled emotions, Satoru walked the same corridors he once did with Suguru. Each little interaction triggered a rush of memories - the good, the bad; it was like opening a floodgate.

One day, he saw Suguru helping a younger student with Academics. Satoru's gaze softened as the sight hit him hard - this was the Suguru he knew, the Suguru he loved. The one who was always there for others. The one he had lost.

Satoru was restless at night. He would stare at the ceiling, remembering the little things about Suguru. He would remember the sound of his laughter, his voice, his expressions. He would remember and ache for the traitor he had once called a friend.

He wondered why fate had brought him back here, in this timeline where everything was still normal. Where Suguru was still Suguru. Was it fate's cruel joke or a chance to set things right, Satoru didn't know.

Days turned into weeks. Satoru avoided Suguru as much as he could. But each time their eyes met, he felt his heart break a little more. He couldn't help but remember the final moments of his old friend. The hollowness in his gaze was a painful echo.

The Suguru of this timeline was blissfully unaware of the storm going within Satoru. He continued his life as he normally would, occasionally glancing at Satoru with a puzzled expression, unaware of the turmoil Satoru was going through.

One day, Satoru accidently bumped into Suguru in the corridor. He froze as he felt the familiar touch, the same warmth he had longed for so much. Suguru was quick to apologize, his innocence making Satoru's heartache even worse.

He felt like he was suffocating from the overwhelming feelings. Feelings of regret, love, and sadness. He had never been one to express his emotions openly, and the sudden influx of these feelings felt like a punishment.

At night, he broke down. He cried for the friend he had lost and the lover he had never had. It was cathartic and painful at the same time. It was his regret taking form, and he let it all out.

The next day, Suguru found him in a miserable state. Concern etched on his face, he approached Satoru. The sight of worried Suguru, was painful, reminding him of their past friendship.

“What happened, Satoru?” Suguru asked, worry evident in his voice. Satoru stared at him in silence, his eyes filled with tears. He wanted to say so much, but he couldn't. He just couldn't put Suguru through that pain again.

He simply smiled and shook his head, trying to brush off Suguru's concern. But Suguru wasn't convinced, he could see the pain behind Satoru's mask. He decided to give Satoru some space, hoping it would help.

The next few days passed in a blur for Satoru. He would wander around their old familiar spots, each one carrying painful memories of lost times. His heart heavy with remorse for what had transpired and what was to unfold.

Then one day, he was alone with Suguru in a classroom. Their gazes met, and Satoru found himself lost in Suguru's eyes. He remembered similar moments, when they used to seek comfort in each other's presence.

Surrounded by memories and the presence of Suguru, he broke down. He cried, letting out all his bottled-up emotions. Suguru, startled, comforted him. He didn’t understand but he stayed, holding Satoru as he wept.

“I’m sorry…” Satoru managed to choke out between his sobs. Suguru didn’t ask him for what, he simply held him tighter, providing him the solace he needed, oblivious to Satoru's torment.

From that day on, things changed. Satoru started to keep his distance from Suguru. It was painful, but he preferred it to the agony of being near him, constantly reminded of their past.

As time passed, Satoru couldn't take it anymore, he decided to confess his feelings to Suguru. He decided to tell him about his child, their child. The one Suguru never knew of, the one he would never meet.

But before he could, he was back in his present timeline. The one where Suguru was not there, where he was all alone. His confession and his longing left unfulfilled.

He woke up, his heart aching. The realization that it was all a dream was too much to bear. His past was still his past. Suguru was still not there. His regret and longing were his alone to bear.

Satoru got up mechanically, ready to face another day without Suguru. His heart heavy with regret and longing. His only comfort was the child Suguru never knew of, but who was a part of him nevertheless.

In his solitude, he looked at their child, the only piece of Suguru he had left. He smiled, a sad smile. This child was his solace, his regret, his love... the embodiment of his feelings for Suguru.
