I remember a normal day at Yancy Academy, one of those days that you'd never expect to change your life. My friends and I were goofing off in the last class, waiting for summer vacation.

We were in Mrs. Dodds's Latin class, which we all hated. Not because the subject was boring, but because Mrs. Dodds was one of the scariest teachers we had ever met.

She was this skinny little thing with red bifocal glasses, always looking at us as if she wanted to roast us alive. I used to dread her class more than any other.

That day, our focus was centered on Percy Jackson, the class troublemaker, who was busy doodling in his textbook while our teacher droned on about Greek and Roman myths.

Then, out of nowhere, Mr. Brunner, the wheelchair-bound history teacher and our only cool teacher, rolled into the room and started talking to Mrs. Dodds in hushed tones. I couldn't help but feel curious about what they were discussing.

Mr. Brunner rolled up to Percy and tried to engage him in the lesson, but Percy was completely lost. I couldn't blame him - I often found myself daydreaming during class too.

My friends and I chuckled from the back of the room, whispering about the latest gossip and funny memes, doing anything but paying attention to the lesson.

When Mr. Brunner asked Percy a question, it became clear that Percy had no clue what was going on. He mumbled something, and Mr. Brunner sighed, disappointed.

Percy's best friend, Grover, a lanky and clumsy guy with a limp, tried to help him out, giving him the answer. But Mr. Brunner caught on and told Percy not to rely on Grover. Poor Percy looked helpless and embarrassed.

After the little exchange, Mrs. Dodds asked Percy to come with her, and together they left the classroom. Naturally, this sparked even more interest and curiosity among the students. What was happening?

Moments later, Grover suddenly left the classroom too, but no one stopped him. My friends and I exchanged glances, wondering if we were missing out on some juicy drama.

Finally, the bell rang, and we were free to go. My friends and I rushed out of the classroom, eager to find out what had happened, but not before Mr. Brunner stopped me. He seemed to be lost in thought and asked me if I had seen anything unusual.

I thought for a moment and then shook my head. Mr. Brunner nodded solemnly and wheeled away, leaving me feeling both confused and concerned. What was going on?

We hurriedly made our way to the front of the school, where we found Percy, soaking wet and looking dazed, standing next to Grover. I couldn't contain my curiosity and went up to them, asking what had happened.

Percy hesitated before explaining that he'd been attacked by Mrs. Dodds. She'd turned into some kind of winged creature, and they'd battled it out inside the school. As crazy as it sounded, there was something about Percy's voice that made me believe him.

Grover chimed in, adding that Mr. Brunner had come to Percy's rescue, throwing a pen that transformed into a sword. I raised an eyebrow in disbelief, but the two boys insisted it was true. The story was so bizarre that it drew more and more students to listen in.

Suddenly, Mr. Brunner appeared, interrupting our conversation. He acted as if nothing had happened and casually asked Percy if he'd be joining them on their field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art the next day.

Percy agreed, still looking bewildered about the whole ordeal. Mr. Brunner then wheeled away, leaving us all to wonder what in the world was going on at Yancy Academy.

The next day, we all went to the museum, nervously chatting about Percy's wild story. I couldn't help but keep an eye on Percy, Mr. Brunner, and Grover, wondering if anything else strange would happen.

Nothing did, at least not during the field trip. We went through the exhibits and listened to Mr. Brunner's lectures about ancient Greece and Rome, all the while waiting for something unusual to take place. But everything seemed normal.

After the trip, we returned to school, and life went on as usual. Mrs. Dodds had mysteriously disappeared, and we got a new Latin teacher. The incident was never mentioned again, and eventually, it faded into the background.

But I couldn't forget. No matter how hard I tried, the memory of that day never faded. I couldn't shake the feeling that something big was happening, something beyond the walls of Yancy Academy.

That was the first time I realized that the world was bigger than I thought - full of mysteries and things that couldn't be explained. And it all started with Percy Jackson, the infamous troublemaker who would, one day, become something so much more.

Little did I know back then that Percy's strange encounter with Mrs. Dodds was just the beginning of a series of adventures that would change his life forever - and in some ways, mine too. For as long as I lived, I would never forget that strange day at Yancy Academy, and the mystery that unfolded before my very eyes.
