Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, there lived a princess named Fiona. She was not like any ordinary princess. The people in the kingdom knew her as the "ugly princess." You see, Fiona was born with a curse. Her great, great, great grandmother had upset a witch, and the witch had in retaliation cursed every firstborn girl in her family. This curse altered their appearances in a way that they did not look like the usual beautiful princesses in the tales.

Fiona was tall and gangly, had a large, crooked nose, freckles scattered across her face, and her hair was a wild mess of curls. She wasn't what many would call traditionally beautiful. However, Fiona had a heart of gold. She was kind, brave, and she possessed a wisdom way beyond her years. But alas, people barely saw past her looks.

Despite her looks, Fiona had an adventurous spirit. She loved exploring the forest near the castle, playing with the animals, and climbing the tallest trees. One day, while she was out exploring, she met an old woman. The woman was hunched over, tired and weak. Fiona immediately rushed to help her.

She helped the old woman back to her tiny cabin in the heart of the forest. The woman was grateful and thanked Fiona. Then, she revealed herself to be a powerful fairy, disguised as an old woman to test the goodness of people's hearts. Fiona was taken aback but wasn't as surprised as one would expect.

The fairy was touched by Fiona's kindness and decided to help her in return. She told Fiona about the curse her family was under. The fairy, having the power to undo or change spells, told Fiona she could change her appearance. However, Fiona asked instead for the fairy to help her find someone who would love her for who she truly was, instead of changing her looks.

Touched by Fiona's wisdom and courage, the fairy agreed to her request. With a wave of her wand, she assured Fiona that she would encounter someone who would see her true beauty, and love her for who she was. With a smile and a thank you, Fiona headed back to the castle, hoping the fairy's promise would come true.

Months passed, and Fiona continued her adventurous life, unconcerned about her appearance. She helped people in need, played with the animals, and remained true to herself. One day, while on one of her adventures, she bumped into a handsome young traveler.

The young man, named Derek, had lost his way. Fiona, being kind and helpful, guided him back. Derek was fascinated by Fiona. He was amazed by her intelligence, kindness and the warmth in her heart. He saw past her appearance, touched by the fact that Fiona was so unapologetically herself.

Fiona and Derek spent a lot of time together. They explored the forest, helped people in need, and became the best of friends. Derek confessed that he had never met someone as beautiful as Fiona. Her kindness, her bravery, her wisdom were the true definition of beauty for him.

Fiona had never been happier. She finally found someone who saw her for who she was, who recognized and appreciated her inner beauty. It didn't take long for them to fall in love. They realized that they complemented each other perfectly and decided to get married.

The kingdom was ecstatic. The 'ugly' princess was getting married, not just to anyone, but to a handsome, kind, and wise young man. The fairy attended the wedding at Fiona's invitation. She reminded Fiona that she was always beautiful just the way she was.

Fiona and Derek lived happily ever after, proving to everyone that true beauty comes from within. Their story spread across many kingdoms, reminding everyone that kindness, wisdom, and courage are the real factors that define beauty. Refusing to change herself, Fiona had turned the curse into a blessing for herself and taught a valuable lesson to all.
