In a small village nestled between lush green hills, there lived a wise old monk named Koji, known far and wide for his profound wisdom.

One day, a troubled traveler journeyed to the village seeking guidance from Koji, hoping to find answers to life's deepest questions.

Upon reaching the village, the traveler was directed to Koji's cottage. Koji, sitting peacefully by a crackling fire, gestured for the traveler to sit beside him.

The traveler, feeling the weight of his troubles, began pouring out his heart to Koji, recounting the trials and tribulations he had faced on his journey.

Koji listened intently, his eyes reflecting the flickering flames of the fire. When the traveler had finished speaking, there was a moment of silence.

Finally, Koji spoke softly, 'Do you see that stone by the hearth?' he asked, pointing to a smooth, round stone resting beside the fire.

The traveler nodded, puzzled by the sudden change of topic. 'Pick up the stone,' Koji instructed.

The traveler obeyed, lifting the stone in his hand. It was warm from the fire, smooth and comforting to the touch.

Koji asked, 'Now, tell me what you feel.' The traveler replied, 'It is warm, smooth, and comforting.'

Koji nodded, his eyes twinkling with understanding. 'Just like the stone,' he said, 'you too have the capacity to find warmth, smoothness, and comfort within yourself.'

With those words, the traveler felt a profound sense of peace wash over him. He realized that the answers he sought were not in distant lands or lofty philosophies but within his own being.

With a heart full of gratitude, the traveler bid farewell to Koji and continued on his journey, carrying with him the timeless wisdom of the humble monk and the simple lesson of the stone by the hearth.
