Liz Buxbaum, a perpetual daydreamer, has been in love with Michael since the day they first met. He was everything she aspired to be with: cool, aloof and downright gorgeous. However, Michael never seemed to notice her, much less know that she existed.

When Michael moved away, Liz bid goodbye to her dreams of him as well. But the stars were in her favor, Michael was back in town. This was Liz's chance to finally get his attention.

To achieve her goal, Liz decided to befriend Wes Bennet, her annoyingly attractive next-door neighbor. Wes was Michael's childhood friend and he was her ticket to getting close to Michael.

Wes was hard to like. He was a perpetual prankster, and his pranks ranged from putting frogs in her lunch box to decapitating her lawn gnomes. Nonetheless, Liz decided to bear with him for the sake of Michael.

With patience and time, Liz and Wes started getting along. To Liz's surprise, she found herself enjoying Wes's company and his childish pranks. She even started participating in them.

As days passed, Liz and Wes became close friends. Despite the differences, they learned to appreciate each other's quirky traits. However, Liz was still determined to win Michael's heart.

Liz started hanging out with Michael, thanks to Wes. She tried her best to fit in, but something felt out of place. Michael was different from how she had imagined him to be.

Somehow, Wes understood her like no one else could. Even without speaking, Wes knew when she was upset or when she was hiding something. It was like he had a direct line to her heart.

One day, after a disappointing encounter with Michael, Liz found comfort in Wes. For the first time, she wondered if it was Wes she was actually falling for, not Michael.

Confused by her feelings, Liz decided to talk to Wes about it. But he merely smiled and told her to follow her heart. His words were simple yet they left a deep impact on Liz.

Prom night was approaching, and Liz was nervous. She had to make a choice. She knew Michael was the perfect prom date, but on the other hand, her heart longed for Wes.

Michael asked Liz to the prom, the moment she had been waiting for. But when she looked at him, all she could think about was Wes's mischievous smile and his comforting presence.

Liz summoned up the courage and rejected Michael's offer. Instead, she asked Wes to be her prom date. He was stunned but accepted with a wide smile on his face.

Prom night arrived, and Liz was glowing. She felt beautiful and confident. Her heart pounded as Wes arrived, looking handsome in his black suit.

As Liz danced with Wes, she realized that she was living the prom night of her dreams. It wasn't about Michael; it never was. It was always about her and Wes, together.

At that moment, Liz understood that love doesn't always appear in the way you expect. Sometimes, it's the annoying next-door neighbor who turns out to be your perfect match.

Wes took Liz's hand and led her outside, under the starlit sky. He looked into her eyes, and without saying a word, he expressed his feelings for her. Liz felt her heart flutter.

As Wes leaned in to kiss her, Liz knew this was where she belonged. Wes was not just a friend, or a prom date. He was the person she had been waiting for.

For the first time, Liz was not dreaming. She was living the moment, the beautiful reality. She was with Wes, and it was everything she had ever wanted.

Wes asked her to be his girlfriend, and she said yes. She felt a rush of happiness. Her heart was filled with love for Wes. She knew it was the beginning of something beautiful.

In the morning, as Liz woke up, she had a smile on her face. She wasn't daydreaming about someone who didn't even know she existed. She was in love with her best friend, and he loved her back.

Liz learned that love is not about chasing someone who doesn't acknowledge you. Love is about being with someone who understands you, knows you, and accepts you unconditionally, just as Wes did.

In the end, it wasn't about the happily ever after Liz had imagined with Michael. It was about the unexpected love she found in Wes, a love that surpassed all her dreams.

Liz no longer dreamed about a fairytale love with Michael. She was living a beautiful reality with Wes. She was loved, cherished and most importantly, she was happy.

Time progressed, and so did Liz and Wes's relationship. They were inseparable. Their love story wasn't a fairytale; it was better. It was real, filled with friendship, understanding, and love.
