Knuckles contemplates life at the altar when a lightning strike shatters the Master Emerald. Chaos emerges, blindsiding the echidna and escaping.

The island starts sinking near Mystic Ruins. Sonic and Tails, at the Launch Base, are interrupted by Knuckles, who believes they are after the Emerald shards.

Sonic and Tails fight their way onto the Death Egg, despite Eggman's efforts to stop them with Big Arms. The battle damages the Death Egg, causing it to plummet.

Eggman lies to Knuckles about Sonic's intentions, further fueling the echidna's distrust. Deciding to confront Sonic, Knuckles leaves to find him.

Knuckles finds Sonic and Tails with a Chaos Emerald, mistaking it for a Master Emerald shard. He attacks Sonic, leading to a short battle and Sonic dropping the Emeralds.

Eggman shows up and claims the Emeralds. Realizing Eggman's deception, Knuckles befriends Sonic and Tails, taking them to Sky Sanctuary.

Tails pilots the Tornado 2, giving chase to the Egg Carrier. Sonic, hitching a ride, prepares for the final showdown with Eggman.

As they approach the Egg Carrier, Sonic and Tails steel themselves for the encounter with Eggman. The fate of Angel Island hangs in the balance.

Sonic and Tails engage Eggman in a final, decisive battle. Despite Eggman's desperate attempts to stop them, the duo remains undeterred.

Emerging victorious, Sonic and Tails manage to retrieve the Emerald shards. With Angel Island saved, they return home as heroes, their bond with Knuckles stronger than ever.
