    Painting your imagination...

My name is Jake and I'm 14. I have a little brother, Timmy, who is only 3. For me, teasing Timmy is a sport. I'd put his favorite toys on top shelves, change the TV channel when he's watching, and easily move him away from places he wants to go.

    Painting your imagination...

One day, Timmy wanted a turn on my gaming console. Smirking, I handed him an unplugged controller, letting him believe he was playing. He was so engrossed, unaware that he wasn't actually controlling anything.

    Painting your imagination...

That night, as I tucked Timmy into bed, I couldn't resist rubbing it in. "Only dumb babies fall for the controller trick," I said, laughing. Timmy's face crumpled, and he began to cry.

    Painting your imagination...

Trying to console him, I told him that he would understand when he was older. Little did I know, his teary eyes were making a wish. "I wish I was the big kid and you were the dumb baby!" he sniffled.

    Painting your imagination...

The next morning, I woke up in Timmy's toddler bed, my legs sticking out at the end. I was wearing footed pajamas, and everything seemed bigger. Looking in the mirror, I saw a 3-year-old staring back at me.

    Painting your imagination...

Confused, I stumbled out of the room, only to see Timmy, towering over me. He was 14 now, smirking down at me with a glint in his eyes that I recognized. The wish had come true.

    Painting your imagination...

The roles were reversed now. Timmy was the one putting my toys out of reach, changing the TV channel, and moving me away from where I wanted to go. I was the one pouting, unable to do anything about it.

    Painting your imagination...

One day, I wanted a turn on the gaming console. Timmy handed me an unplugged controller, just like I had done before. I knew the trick, but I couldn't reach the real controller. I was stuck pretending.

    Painting your imagination...

That night, as Timmy tucked me into bed, he echoed my words from before, "Only dumb babies fall for the controller trick." I felt my face crumple as I realized how hurtful those words were.

    Painting your imagination...

I made a wish then, "I wish we could go back to how it was." As I drifted off to sleep, I hoped my wish would come true, just like Timmy's had.

    Painting your imagination...

The next morning, I woke up in my own bed, back to my 14-year-old self. Timmy was 3 again, running around in his toddler clothes. We were back to normal. I felt a sense of relief wash over me.

    Painting your imagination...

From then on, I stopped teasing Timmy. I realized how it felt to be on the receiving end. Instead, we started playing games together, sometimes even letting him win. We became closer as brothers.

    Painting your imagination...

I learned a valuable lesson from the age swap. I learned to be more considerate and kind to my little brother. After all, you never know when a wish might come true and tables could turn.
