Halloween night had a chill in the air as teenage cousins Peter and Connor set off trick or treating. Peter was dressed as a sleek black cat and Connor as a playful brown dog.

Their bags were overflowing with candy when they decided to pay a visit to the spooky house on the hill where Hazel lived. The house loomed ominously against the moonlit sky.

Rumors swirled around Hazel; some even said she was a witch. Peter and Connor, however, didn't believe in such tales. With a shared glance, they approached the house and knocked on the door.

To their surprise, the door creaked open, revealing a dark interior. Connor joked about the wind, but the air was eerily still. Peter called out, but there was no response.

Gathering their courage, they stepped inside. Suddenly, the door slammed shut behind them. The boys tried to open it but found it was locked. They were trapped.

Hazel appeared, a scowl on her face. She was upset at being disturbed. The boys tried to explain but she cut them off, telling them she had a surprise for them.

She waved her hands, chanting words they didn't understand. Suddenly, collars appeared on their necks. They tried to remove them but found they were stuck.

Hazel revealed her spell. Over the next ten days, they would slowly turn into the animals they dressed as. Despite their pleading, she said the spell was irreversible.

The boys left Hazel's house, their minds racing. They couldn't believe what was happening. They decided to seek help and set off to find the wizard's castle.

After a long journey, they arrived at the castle. It was an imposing stone structure, nestled among dense forest. They knocked on the massive wooden door, hoping for help.

The wizard welcomed them in. He was a tall man with a long white beard. He listened to their story, his eyes filled with sympathy and concern.

He told them that if the collars were removed, the physical changes would stop. However, they would still be trapped with the minds of animals. They felt a sense of despair.

They asked the wizard if there was a way to break the spell completely. He said he would try but he needed some time to research. The boys thanked him and left.

Days passed and changes began. Peter's nails turned into claws and Connor's teeth began to grow sharp. They felt their minds starting to slip away.

On the tenth day, they returned to the wizard's castle. They were almost completely transformed. The wizard greeted them with a hopeful smile. He had found a solution.

He told them they must confront Hazel and make her admit that her spell was unjust. Only then would the collars become removable, ending their transformation.

The boys set off for Hazel's house again. They felt a mix of fear and hope. They knew they had to convince Hazel, it was their only chance.

They approached Hazel and told her they understood the consequences of their actions. They admitted that they had been wrong to disturb her and asked for her forgiveness.

Hazel listened to them, her stern expression softening. She finally admitted that her spell was unjust. With that admission, the collars fell off their necks.

They felt an immediate change. Their animal features faded and their human minds returned. They thanked Hazel and promised never to disturb her again.

The boys returned home, relieved and grateful. They learnt a valuable lesson that Halloween night - to respect others' space and privacy. They would never forget their adventure.

As for Hazel, she continued to live in her house on the hill. She no longer felt disturbed, and the boys kept their promise, leaving her in peace.

Peter and Connor would look back on that Halloween with a mix of fear and gratitude. It was a reminder of the magic, mystery and lessons learned in their youthful adventure.

They often told their story to others, a tale of magic, transformation, and respect. It was a story that would echo through the years, becoming a part of their town's folklore.

And so, the story of the cursed costumes lived on. The boys grew up, but they never forgot the witch, the wizard, and the unforgettable Halloween adventure that changed their lives.
