Turning to Birbal, the Emperor posed a riddle, 'Who is the greatest, the sun or the moon?' Birbal, unfazed, began to ponder the question.

The following morning, Birbal invited the Emperor to walk with him in the royal gardens. 'Your Majesty,' said Birbal, 'I have your answer.'

'The moon, though beautiful, only shines with the light of the sun. Thus, the sun is greater.' Akbar, impressed, praised Birbal's wisdom.
