Eve and Julia were sitting in the backseat of their parents' car, looking out the window at the scenery as the family drove from Boston to Utah. "Are we there yet?" Julia asked for the hundredth time that day.

"Not yet, honey," Mom replied. "But we're getting closer. Remember, Nana and Papa's house is a long way from ours. It's a big adventure!"

Meanwhile, in Arizona, Aida was also on a journey with her parents. She was excited to meet her cousins and play with them at Nana and Papa's house.

The girls had their own little ways of passing time. Eve was reading her favorite book. Julia was doodling in her sketchbook. Aida was busy playing a game on her tablet.

The day turned into night, and the twinkling stars began to appear. Eve and Julia's Dad pulled the car into a rest stop for dinner. Aida and her family did the same hundreds of miles away.

The next morning, Eve woke up to the sound of birds chirping. Julia stretched in her seat, rubbing her eyes. They were now in Utah, getting close to Nana and Papa’s house.

Aida awoke with a jolt as their car hit a bump on the road. Rubbing her eyes, she watched the sunrise through her window. The sun painted the desert landscape with hues of orange and pink.

Not long after, they all arrived at Nana and Papa’s beautiful home. It was surrounded by tall trees and colorful flowers. The girls jumped out of their cars, excited to finally stretch their legs.

Eve, Julia, and Aida hugged each other tightly. They had missed each other. The adults exchanged greetings and began to unpack the cars, while the girls ran off to play.

They zoomed around the house exploring all the rooms, and eventually ended up in the attic where Nana kept all the old toys. The girls laughed and played with the ancient dolls and teddy bears.

After a while, Julia got a brilliant idea. "Let's go find Callie!" she suggested. Callie was Nana and Papa's old, grey cat. Aida and Eve agreed with enthusiasm.

They made their way to the backyard, where Callie often prowled, stalking pretend prey. The yard was wide and green, filled with trees and flowers. But there was no sign of Callie.

Eve spotted a small movement under a bush. "Look, there!" She pointed. It was Callie, fast asleep. The girls decided not to disturb her and wandered around the yard, talking and giggling.

They picked flowers, climbed trees and chased butterflies. They played hide and seek, with Aida always finding the best hiding spots. Each girl cherishing these unforgettable moments.

As the afternoon wore on, Eve and Julia taught Aida how to make daisy chains. They sat on the grass, threading daisies together, while Callie lazily watched them from her spot under the bush.

When the sun started to set and the shadows stretched long across Nana and Papa’s yard, the girls decided to head back inside. Callie, now awake, followed them, swishing her grey tail.

Nana had prepared a delicious dinner for them. They ate happily, chattering about their day. They eventually said their goodnights and went to their rooms, tired but content.

The next day held new adventures for them. They played with their old toys, explored the forest around Nana and Papa's house, and enjoyed delicious meals cooked by Nana.

Aida, Eve, and Julia would always remember this trip. It wasn't just about the places they saw or the toys they played with, but the memories they made with each other.

These were the days they would cherish when they grew older, the days they would look back on with a smile. The simple days of summer, filled with love, laughter, and family.

And so, as they would fall asleep each night, the girls' dreams would be filled with the day's adventures. And each morning would bring a new day, a new story, and more memories.

Each time they visited Nana and Papa’s house, they would remember these days. The days spent playing with old toys, exploring the backyard, and looking for Callie the cat.

Their trip eventually came to an end, and it was time to say goodbye. They hugged Nana, Papa and each other tightly. The goodbyes were always the hardest part.

Mom and Dad packed their bags into the car. Eve and Julia climbed in, waving goodbye to Aida and her parents. With one last look at Nana and Papa’s house, they started their journey back home.

Aida and her family also packed up their car and started their journey back to Arizona. As they drove away, Aida looked back at her grandparents' house, promising to return next summer.

The journey was filled with laughter and stories of their unforgettable summer. And even though they were going their separate ways, they knew they would always be connected by these memories.

And so ended their summer at Nana and Papa’s house. They took with them memories of laughter, love, old toys, and adventures in the backyard. Until next summer, when they would return for more.

Meanwhile, at Nana and Papa’s house, Callie the cat prowled the now empty backyard. She’d miss the girls, but she knew they’d be back next summer for more adventures.

And as the sun set over the house, Nana and Papa sat on the porch, reminiscing about the beautiful summer they had with their grandchildren. They looked forward to seeing them again next year.

Each summer at Nana and Papa's house brought new stories, new memories, and more love. And even though the house felt quieter without the girls, the memories echoed through each room, keeping the house alive.

The girls may have left, but the echoes of their laughter, the warmth of their hugs, and the stories of their adventures were left behind. And that's what made Nana and Papa's house, a home.

And so, in the hearts of Eve, Julia, and Aida, Nana and Papa's house wasn't just a house. It was a place of love, laughter, and warmth - a place they could always call home.

Every summer, they would eagerly look forward to the trip to Nana and Papa’s house. Even as they grew older, they would always cherish their childhood memories of the summers spent there.

And so, Callie the cat, Nana and Papa, the old toys and the big backyard were waiting for next summer, for the girls to return and have another unforgettable summer.

Until then, the memories of this summer would keep them company. The echoes of laughter, the joyous shouts, the whispers of stories shared, would fill the house, until next summer.
