In the LEGO universe, an ordinary construction worker named Emmet is going about his daily routine. He enjoys his simple life, despite having no notable skills or attributes.

Emmet comes across a mysterious object known as the "Piece of Resistance". He touches it and passes out, waking up in police custody.

In the police station, Emmet meets Wyldstyle, a master builder, who believes Emmet is the "Special". She rescues him and they escape.

Together, Emmet and Wyldstyle embark on an adventure, joining a band of resistance fighters who strive to outsmart the tyrannical Lord Business.

Their journey leads them to the realm of Cloud Cuckoo Land, where they meet the unicorn-cat hybrid, Unikitty, and the swashbuckling pirate, MetalBeard.

They also encounter Batman, a master builder and Wyldstyle's boyfriend. Together, they form a plan to infiltrate Lord Business's tower.

As part of the plan, Emmet and his team set out to disable the tower's security. However, their mission takes a dramatic turn when Emmet gets captured.

In captivity, Emmet encounters Lord Business. He learns about the evil ruler's intention to glue all the LEGO pieces together, creating a stagnant world.

Emmet is tortured and presumed dead by his friends. Meanwhile, Lord Business begins his plan by applying the Kragle, a substance that freezes anything it touches.

Despite the odds, the distraught team decides to fight back. They infiltrate the tower again, only to be captured by Lord Business's forces.

In a surprising turn of events, Emmet is found alive. He rescues his friends and they fight Lord Business's minions, freeing the citizens from the Kragle.

Emmet faces Lord Business and talks him out of his plan, proving that everyone is special in their own way. Touched, Lord Business disables the Kragle.

With the day saved, Emmet celebrates with his friends, and Wyldstyle becomes his girlfriend. Meanwhile, a new threat arrives from space, the Duplo aliens.

Seeing the new danger, Emmet and his friends brace themselves for a new adventure, aiming to protect their world once more.
